How to Make a Property Remember

How AI Can Preserve Property Knowledge — and Help Multifamily Organizations Make Better Decisions

Why I’m writing this

Properties remember less than the organizations operating them think they do.

Over years of ownership and operations, a property accumulates decisions, lessons, patterns, exceptions, and judgment. Much of that context still depends on the people who happen to be there at the time.

AI may change what is practical — not by replacing operators, but by making more of what they learn durable, retrievable, and reusable.

What the book is exploring

The questions the book is trying to answer.

  • Property memory

What should a property be able to remember over years of operations and management transitions?

  • Decision context

How do we preserve not only what happened, but why decisions were made?

  • Operating know-how

How can experienced operators’ judgment become organizational capability rather than disappear with turnover?

  • AI

What becomes possible when AI can preserve, retrieve, and work with the right knowledge when it is needed?
